An In-Depth Look at the Adobe Premiere Pro Editing Tools

first_imgRolling EditKeyboard Shortcut: NRolling Edit is another trim tool used for fine-tuning and adjustments. You perform a Rolling Edit by moving an edit point either forward or backwards in the sequence. Rolling Edit moves the Out point of the first clip and the In point of the second. RazorKeyboard Shortcut: CUsing the Razor adds a simple edit point by cutting the clip wherever you use the tool. Holding shift while using the Razor will cut clips across all tracks, as long as they are not locked. Slide ToolKeyboard Shortcut: USliding a clip moves the clip on the timeline, but keeps the source In and Out points the same. The Slide tool closes all gaps as well. You can slide a clip backwards as far as the previous clip’s In point and as far forward as the following clip’s Out point. Pen ToolKeyboard Shortcut: PThe Pen tool allows you to add keyframes to a clip. You can keyframe a wide number of attributes, including opacity, scale, position and even volume of an audio clip. Hold the alt key and you can add bezier curves to your keyframes. Track Select Forward/BackwardKeyboard Shortcut: A (Shift+A)This tool will let you quickly select all of the clips in a sequence, either forward or backwards. Naturally it won’t select clips in locked tracks. If you hold shift, the tool will select only one track instead of all tracks. Slip ToolKeyboard Shortcut: YThe Slip tool slips the clip’s source In and Out point, but doesn’t move it on the timeline. While using the Slip tool, the program monitor shows you the frame before and after the clip, and gives you a live preview of the source In and Out points, with source timecode. Let’s take a tour of the Premiere Pro editing tools which help you trim and cut your assets within the timeline. If you’re new to Adobe Premiere Pro, you might be sticking with the basic selection tool to perform most of your edits. Learning the ins and outs of additional Premiere Pro editing tools can help speed up your workflow significantly. Let’s take a closer look at all of the tools available.Selection ToolKeyboard Shortcut: VThe Selection tool allows you to perform basic selections and edits. You can select specific edit points and perform simple trims. Select multiple clips and move them around within the timeline, from track to track. Ripple EditKeyboard Shortcut: B Ripple Edit is a trim tool, used to trim a clip and ripple the rest of the clips in the timeline, effectively closing the gap between the two edit points. When using the Ripple Edit tool, make sure you select the correct edit points. You also need to be aware of which tracks are locked. You can quickly throw a lot of things out of sync if you incorrectly use the Ripple Edit tool. Rate StretchKeyboard Shortcut: RThe Rate Stretch tool either speeds up or slows down the clip. The In and Out points of the clip remain the same, but the duration and speed of the clip changes according to the amount you “stretch” through the trim. Expanding the Out point of the clip will slow down the rate of speed, while shortening the clip will speed up the duration. HandKeyboard Shortcut: HUsing the Hand tool, you can navigate forward and backward on the timeline. ZoomKeyboard Shortcut: ZThe Zoom tool allows you to zoom in and out of different areas of the timeline. These Premiere Pro editing tools are easy to use and can change the way you work. Try adding a couple to your workflow with each session. They’ll be second nature before you know it!What are your go-to editing tools? Let us know in the comments below!last_img read more

Indian eves beat Nepal clinch 5th SAFF title

first_imgBiratnagar: India continued its dominance at the SAFF Women’s Championship with the team lifting its fifth straight title on Friday in Biratnagar, Nepal with a 3-1 win over the hosts in the final. The win extends India’s unbeaten run in the tournament’s history to 23 games as goals from Dalima Chhibber, Grace Dangmei and substitute Anju Tamang saw India lift the trophy in front of a partisan crowd at the Sahid Rangashala Stadium. The pace of the match was intense from the word go, with both sides pressing hard from the first whistle. Grace Dangmei fashioned a couple of early chances down the right wing for India while Nepal registered a couple of shots from a distance, with Manjali Kumar testing Indian custodian Aditi Chauhan in the 14th minute. Also Read – Puducherry on top after 8-wkt win over ChandigarhJust three minutes later, after some excellent build-up play down the right, Sandhiya laid off a ball for Sanju to shoot from the top of the box. The winger’s effort was a powerful one but was saved by the opposition keeper. On the other end, Sabitra Bhandari posed a threat for India inside the penalty area but her curling effort was off target. In the semi-final against Bangladesh, it was Dalima who opened the scoring for India and this time around too, it was the right-back who gave India the advantage. In the 26th minute, she smashed the ball past the keeper from a free-kick from 30 yards with a powerful drive and put the defending champions into a 1-0 lead. Also Read – Vijender’s next fight on Nov 22, opponent to be announced laterRatanbala Devi could have added a second goal six minutes later but her shot from a distance was saved by the Nepal goalie. In the 34th minute though, Sabitra equalized for the hosts as she rose high above her marker and headed the ball into the back of the net. The break saw both sides locked at a goal apiece but it could have easily been either team with the lead. Grace failed to connect well with a cross from Sanju down the left in the 41st minute and Aditi made a brilliant double save to deny Sabitra in first half stoppage time. The second half began with India creating the majority of the opportunities, with Sanju and Ratanbala putting their respective efforts just over the bar. Nepal were under the cosh and India’s pressure paid off in the 63rd minute after Sanju put Grace through on goal with a delightful through ball. The winger swiftly broke through and showing great composure, she rounded the goalkeeper and slotted the ball home to restore India’s advantage. It proved to be the straw that broke the camel’s back as the away side continued to keep the Nepal side at bay and almost added another as Ratanbala’s shot was spilled by the keeper. Coach Maymol Rocky brought on Anju Tamang in place of Sandhiya midway through the second half at the top of the pitch and in the 78th minute, the move paid rich dividends as she slammed the ball on the volley for India’s third after a crafty first-time assist from Indumathi Kathiresan. Towards the end, Nepal threw everything they had at the Indian defence but they stood firm. Sabitra and Renuka Nagarkote threatened to halve the deficit but could not get past Aditi in goal as India romped to a fifth SAFF trophy in a row.last_img read more

The Rockets Are Finally Playing Their Game In The Playoffs

The strangest thing about the Houston Rockets’ 126-99 dismantling of the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night wasn’t the final score, or the Spurs’ bloodless play, or even the 50 3-pointers (and 22 makes) that Houston threw up in the game. Those were all unusual, but in the way that any one-off game in a seven-game series might be. For Rockets fans, however, the big change was that for once in the playoffs, the Rockets looked like the Rockets.Over the last four seasons,1The period for which we have player-tracking data for the league. Houston general manager Daryl Morey has built the NBA’s model of efficiency. The Rockets of the regular season adhere to the fundamental tenets of Moreyball: shooting threes, driving for layups and drawing fouls. Then the playoffs begin. That’s when Houston has gone off script and played the sort of inefficient basketball it’s built to avoid. It’s unlikely that the Rockets will play the rest of the series at the level they played Game 1 — the 27-point loss was the worst of the Spurs’ season. But however the series plays out, it’s progress that the Rockets have finally brought Rockets basketball to the playoffs. The biggest change has been in the number of threes the team gets. Over the previous three seasons, the Rockets led the league in 3-point attempt rate (the share of field-goal attempts that are 3-pointers) during the regular season before seeing significant dropoffs in the postseason. That’s particularly unusual, considering the playoff field as a whole had a higher rate in this span than the leaguewide regular-season rate. This season, the Rockets have seen a similar slide toward the mean. But they began with such an overwhelming cushion that although they’ve gone from 46.2 percent of their attempts being threes during the season to 40.3 being so in the playoffs, that 40.3 number would have led all teams during the regular season. It’s especially promising for the Rockets’ identity that they’ve continued to put up shots even though they haven’t been falling. In the Oklahoma City series, Houston shot 28 percent from three over five games and 169 attempts, including 6-for-37 in the series clincher. This was somewhat because of good coverage — the Thunder held the Rockets to 10 uncontested2No defender within 6 feet. threes per game, five fewer than their regular season average — but mostly it was just a cold spell that seems to have corrected itself. Against the Spurs in Game 1, the Rockets got 14 wide-open threes, right around their season average.Houston’s free-throw rate (a team’s number of free-throw attempts per field-goal attempt) hasn’t seen as consistent a downturn in the playoffs as its 3-pointers, but it’s fluctuated. The team has finished in the top two in each of the last four regular seasons, but the fouls dried up in its 2014 and 2016 playoff campaigns. Through six games this postseason, however, the team is drawing free throws at by far the highest rate in the field. read more
