Howard was the difference-maker with a solo home run in the fourth to put UNO on top 3-1 and a RBI base hit in the seventh to take a 5-3 lead.Honorable Mention: Hunter Hearn, Sam Houston State; Nathan Pilutti, Southeastern Louisiana; Clayton Rasbeary, McNeese.Pitcher of the Week – Hayden Wesneski, Sam Houston State – Junior – Pitcher – Cypress, TexasThe righty from Cypress, Texas, allowed just one run and set down 11 Hatters on strikes in 7.1 innings of work against 2018 NCAA Super Regional participant Stetson. That was a gallop for her. But even if she runs third tomorrow, she’ll have a G1 (Grade I) on her pedigree (as a broodmare).”The Gamely is one of three attractive Grade I races offering a total of $1.5 million in purses on Memorial Day, the others being the Gold Cup and the Shoemaker Mile.Monday is Dollar Day, with soda and beer on sale for a buck and hot dogs for $2.  The Gamely, which goes as race seven: Rymska, Irad Ortiz Jr., 5-2; Ollie’s Candy, Joel Rosario, 4-1; Meal Ticket, Florent Geroux, 20-1; Vasilika, Flavien Prat, 8-5; Ahimsa, Brice Blanc, 12-1; Streak of Luck, Mike Smith, 15-1; Elysea’s World, Drayden Van Dyke, 6-1; and Causeforcommotion, Geovanni Franco, 8-1.‘RUST’ IS OFF BOWIES HERO FOR SHOEMAKERTrainer Phil D’Amato is hoping for a return to form from Bowies Hero in Monday’s Shoemaker Mile on grass following a string of four losses after capturing the Grade I Frank E. Kilroe Mile on March 10, 2018.The five-year-old Artie Schiller horse closed ground to be sixth in the Grade III San Francisco Mile on April 27, his first race in eight months.“He was a little rusty first time back,” D’Amato allowed. “He kind of got shuffled back to last but came running late (beaten 4 ¼ lengths) and galloped out strong.“It turned out to be a good set-up race and I saw what I like to see in his first race after a layoff; I’m looking for him to step forward.”The Shoemaker is the first Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” Challenge Race in the U.S. this year. The winner receives a fees-paid berth to the BC Mile Nov. 2 at Santa Anita. The Shoemaker, race nine of 10: Ohio, Ruben Fuentes, 6-1; Sharp Samurai, John Velazquez, 4-1; Le Ken, Tiago Pereira, 20-1; River Boyne, Flavien Prat, 6-1; Catapult, Drayden Van Dyke, 3-1; Bolo, Florent Geroux, 20-1; Desert Stone, Geovanni Franco, 12-1; Delta Prince, Joel Rosario, 5-2; and Bowies Hero, Irad Ortiz Jr., 8-1.BLITZKRIEG MAKES MAIN TRACK DEBUT IN GOLD CUPDoug O’Neill hopes to catch lightning in a bottle Monday when he sends out $25,000 claim Blitzkrieg in the Grade I Gold Cup at Santa for three-year-olds and up at 1 ¼ miles. The five-year-old War Front gelding has won four straight races, three since being claimed on Jan. 19, including the Grade III San Francisco Mile last out on April 27. All 13 of his career races have come on turf. But registering upsets is nothing new to O’Neill. He isn’t the leading trainer for nothing.“He’s been training so beautifully on dirt, and he’s done so well for us that the owners (R3 Racing LLC, Calara Farms and Steve Rothblum) decided to go for it in this race,” said O’Neill’s valued assistant Leandro Mora. “If it turns out he shows the ability to run well on dirt, we’ll have a helluva horse. But we know we have a superior grass runner, for sure.”The Gold Cup, race eight: Blitzkrieg, Rafael Bejarano, 6-1; Mongolian Groom, Martin Garcia, 20-1; Higher Power, Irad Ortiz Jr., 20-1; Lone Sailor, Flavien Prat, 4-1; Gift Box, Joel Rosario, 8-5; Core Beliefs, Florent Geroux, 4-1; and Vino Rosso, John Velazquez, 5-2.SINGLE TICKET RAINBOW PICK SIX JACKPOT AT $736,547In a thrilling end to a 10-race program Saturday at Santa Anita, there were two “live” tickets in the 20-cent Single Ticket Rainbow Pick Six Jackpot, each potentially worth $947,566, but Tule Fog and Full of Luck, both in contention turning for home, finished sixth and seventh respectively, thereby creating a Jackpot carryover into Sunday of $736,547.With $273,673 in “new” money wagered, Saturday’s total Jackpot pool of $947,566 fueled a robust consolation payoff of $36,548 on four tickets. With a nine-race card on tap today, the Rainbow Six initiates with race four which has an approximate post time of 2:31 p.m. PT.LATEST CONTENT FROM XBTV:Cono worked 4 furlongs. 5-26-19 (McCarthy)Rightful (Outside) and Boru worked 5 furlongs. 5-26-19 (Cerin)John Sadler Discusses: Gift Box in the Gold Cup, Ollie’s Candy in the Gamely and Catapult in the Shoemaker Mile.Jimmy Jerkens Discusses: Delta Prince’s Sharp form into the Shoemaker Mile.Mark Glatt Discusses: Sharp Samurai’s comeback into the Shoemaker Mile off a layoff.Jerry Hollendorfer Discusses: Golden Star Lady, Sneaking Out in the Summertime Oaks and Vasilika in the Grade 1 Gamely Stakes.Phil D’Amato Discusses: S Y Sky in the Monrovia Stakes and Bowies Hero in the Shoemaker Mile.Weekend Watch: Highlighting weekend action at Santa Anita Park Starting May 25th, 2019.Juggles worked 5 furlongs. Gold Coast Titans predicted Round 1 line-up

first_imgThe coach’s relationship with Mitch Rein from Penrith should see the former Dragons rake well in the frame for an NRL spot, even if just on the bench, while local boy Brendan Elliot returns to head off a list of wingers including John Olive and Tyronne Roberts-Davis to start the first game of the season – though one of the latter could come into calculations if Anthony Don doesn’t overcome a shoulder injury.New names like Jai Arrow, Jack Stockwell and Leilani Latu could all feature in first grade either starting or off the expert Jamie Soward says:”Five-eighth is the position. Kane Elgey is under a lot of pressure. Last year through injury he didn’t show the form he showed coming into first grade. Ash Taylor needs a guy there that’s going to be on the ball and be consistent in what he’s doing. Do they have an answer if Kane’s not performing?”They do get stronger in the hooker role with Nathan Peats and Mitch Rein. That could be a real tactic for Garth Brennan going forward using that up-tempo speed out of dummy-half with Rein and he can come on and help control a game with Ash Taylor.”They pick up some great forwards in Latu and Stockwell who’ve been around. Their pack’s going to compete, it will be whether they can score points. And leaking points on an edge could be a problem for the Titans.”’s predicted Round 1 team:1 Michael Gordon, 2 Anthony Don*, 3 Dale Copley, 4 Konrad Hurrell, 5 Brendan Elliot, 6 Kane Elgey, 7 Ashley Taylor, 8 Jack Stockwell**, 9 Nathan Peats, 10 Ryan James, 11 Kevin Proctor, 12 Joe Greenwood, 13 Jai Arrow. Interchange: 14 Mitch Rein, 15 Will Matthews, 16 Leilani Latu, 17 Morgan Boyle. Reserves: 18 Jai Whitbread, 19 Keegan Hipgrave, 20 Brenko Lee, 21 Karl Lawton.*In doubt for round one with shoulder injury. **Jarrod Wallace is suspended at the start of the season.last_img read more

Couple want to turn Moresby youths into leaders

first_imgYesterday, the two presented a set of new uniforms with balls and water bottles worth over K4,000 to rugby league club – the Port Moresby City Punishers. The club was founded back in 2014 by the Solomons, with the major sponsor being Intel Centre, an Information Technology company that the Solomons run.“We want the youths to stay away from trouble, especially during the Christmas and New Year period. A sport like rugby league is the way to do this,” said Andrew.“We want to give the youths hope for the future, because if they can’t succeed in school, they can turn to turn to sports and be successful there.“We want to turn these boys into leaders in their communities.”Andrew said the Port Moresby City Punishers will get to wear their new uniforms when they take part in this weekend’s Bang 36 rugby league nines tournament in Port Moresby.“We are also eyeing the NGI Super 9s and other competitions like the Coca-Cola Ipatas Cup.“These boys have a lot of potential and I believe they can play for the Hunters and the Kumuls one day,” he said.“We don’t expect anything back from these boys, we do this because we want to help.”last_img read more

“Jonathas is a forward that imposes and puts you back”

first_imgWho has more advantage, the striker who knows the rival defense or the centrals who know the weaknesses of the scorer he will face?It is true that we both know the strengths and weaknesses of the opposite. We know how to hold you and we hope to get it. Yacine is a very strong forward and it won’t be easy to get it. Also, I know you will be especially motivated.FITO GONZALEZ & nbsp; (DAILY AS) ‘); return false; “class =” item-multimedia “>Gonzalo Verdú, in the interview with AS.FITO GONZALEZ (DAILY AS) In the Vallecas stadium they will meet Yacine Qasmi. What does it mean for Gonzalo Verdú?It is a joy. We were partners and we are friends. I’m glad because I know he is happy and is an important striker in Rayo Vallecano. I wish him the best, of course, although on Sunday I hope we win.Yacine says that he is happy now, but he left sadly, as he said when he said goodbye after the match against Málaga at Martínez Valero …It may be, perhaps as a result of how quickly everything happened on the last day of the transfer market. At the beginning I might have been somewhat affected, but now I see him enjoying himself and that is the important thing. He returns after his sanction. Do you see headline on Sunday?I am not sure. It depends on the coach. Dani (Calvo) is having a very good season and Josema complied with his premiere note. The positive is that there is where to choose and the beneficiary will be the team. The players, as we always say, we owe ourselves to daily training and then the coach must decide. Were you surprised by the premiere of Josema? Not at all. I already knew him from having confronted him in Second Division B and knew the enormous potential he has. Due to the circumstances that Josema has already explained in a press conference (a depression), he has not been able to have continuity during the last two years, but he is a strong, fast and courageous center in the ball out. I am sure that he will bring us many things.Has the rest week helped you recover from your knee discomfort?Yes. On the first lap, in the Extremadura stadium, I suffered a blow that caused an inflammation in my knee. As I have barely stopped playing, those discomforts are still there although they do not affect me to play normally. I live with it and I do it without problems, like any professional footballer.center_img To dead king, put king. What about Jonathas de Jesus? He is a forward that imposes and that puts the defense back. I already knew him from watching him on television when he was in the First Division and he is a great scorer, as he demonstrates in each training. And in the locker room, have you integrated and are you a companion like any other in this adventure in Second Division? It is a phenomenon. He always arrives with a smile at training, is perfectly integrated and in games he is seen pulling the car with his experience and seniority. What game do you expect in Vallecas?A very close duel that will be resolved by details. Rayo de Paco Jémez likes to elaborate from behind, like us, and the one who manages to impose his football will be the one who takes the game. Finally, Elche and Gonzalo Verdú have one more fan in training and in each game. Yesterday we saw her get out of hand with her from the Altabix sports center …Yes, my wife and daughter usually come to see us. Both she and me are very excited. Since he was born, when I was already playing in Elche, he comes to all the games and goes out with me in the games to take the picture. They are memories we will have forever.last_img read more

‘Mirror’: Arsenal wants Ceballos in property
