A win in Sweden was not meant to be as Siniakova took advantage of Wozniacki’s right elbow injury to win 6-3, 6-4 for a 2nd career title.Siniakova was also battling an elbow injury of her own during the game, as both players had to take a medical time out in the second set to have their injuries examined by physios. After the first set went to Siniakova 6-3, Wozniacki looked to have gained control of the game at 3-1 of the second set but was let down by her poor serves and eventually losing 6-4 without much of a fight. It was sheer joy for the 21 year Czech who lost in last year’s Swedish Open“It’s really amazing for me, Last year was really good, and so I’m so happy that I came back because I couldn’t imagine a better week.” – SiniakovaAs a reward for winning the title, Siniakova will move up to at least No. 39 on the new WTA ranking when released tomorrow. While Wozniacki will be unmoved at No.6.last_img
