Government tells plantation companies to agree to Rs 1000

Later, the Ministers briefed the plantation trade unions on the progress of the talks with the plantation companies.Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC) leader Arumugam Thondaman and State Minister of Plantation Industries, Vadivel Suresh attended the discussion. The Government has told plantation companies today to agree to the Rs. 1000 daily wage hike demanded by plantation workers.Minister of Plantation Industries Navin Dissanayake and Labor Trade Union Relations and Social Empowerment Minister Daya Gamage had separate talks with plantation companies and trade unions today on the demand for a wage hike.
